AI Movie

For Inquiry LS2 was given a task to create a Video of the dinosaurs we found and reasearched about in our dinosaur dig challenge.
Qe were given 2 create challenges to help us show our learning in creative and fun ways.
Create Challenge 1:
Use ADOBE Express to generate an image about each dinosaur on your completed sheet. You can not use their name – only the facts you have gathered.
Create Challenge 2:
Use https://hailuoai.video to create AI films showing 3 of your dinosaurs in their natural habitat.
I enjoyed these challenges because it was fun giving the AI prompts and then if you got something you didn’t want you could just change up the prompt to get which made the AI cool to use.

This is my video I made using Adobe express and Hailuo. My dinosaur is the Triceratops.

LI: To use our knowledge about dinosaurs in creative ways

Maths DLO

This week for maths Group two has been learning how to subtract fractions a created a DLO that explains to others. Subtracting fractions looks hard but once you get of it you’ll realize its kinda easy or that its similar to normal subtracting. When you subtract decimals and you are not sure what to do you can look at this DLO we made to help you understand it more.

Mary Anning DLO

Before we took part in our own dinosaur dig LS2 were challenged to capture the story behind Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter and paleontologist during the early 19th century.
Mary anning is one of the most interesting paleontologists I have ever reasearched.
Something I learnt was when Mary anning was only 5 months old, she was with her babysitter at a event until a huge thunderstorm broke out and the babysitter took Mary to shelter under a tree along with another kid but thunder struck the three of them killing the child and the babysitter except for Mary who survived which was a miracle.

Dinosaur egg

Our challenge was to become a palaeontologist who uncovered a rare dinosaur egg fossil. We used Adobe Express to reimage what a real find might look like. After a quick research challenge about habitat we used that information to create our image. We used Adobe express to make the image as if it was back when the dinosaurs once walked.
My partner and I found the skeleton of a Triceratops.
Did you know that the triceratops is one of the most common fossils found?
This task fun because me and my partner found a lot of facts about the triceratops which made it interesting.
LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils.

‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology

We read the text ‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology and were given the provocation – Should the Government of today(2021) apologise for the dawn raids of yesterday (1970s)? to explore and discuss in our groups. After we discussed our opinions we found out that most of us thought that the government should have apologised then vs now.
To show our thinking we created a DLO that reflected both sides of this provocation and your opinion.
something I found interesting was finding out facts to build up on our opinions.
Title: ‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology

LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to the provocation

Museum

In week 4, Thursday classes Room 7,  LS1 and LS2 went to the museum and my class to finish off our topic of  Volcanoes and Dinosaurs! but first we got to school and then got into our groups and since we couldn’t take alot of bags we had to share 1-2 bags between a group and so then we could put our lunch in it and also so we could go without taking much bags and then we also had parent helpers and for my class we had 5 parent helpers one of them being my older brother and then we went to the bus and headed to the Museum. When we got to the Museum and sat down in our groups and classes and ate our morning tea then spilt up in our classes and then my class went to the WW2 enclosure and we found out about a big gun than my Teacher knew a lot about and then we went to weird and wonderful and saw a lot of cool and weird things that I found interesting and I liked seeing the facts I found out there. then we headed over to this place that had cool artifacts and it was really cool then we had lunch in the Kai room after we finished we cleaned up our messes and my group went to this cass that taught everyone about volcanoes and the 4 types of rock but my favourite part was when they split us into groups of 3 and then all three groups went to 1 table that had a lot of things and they handed us a bag and we were given 30 seconds to grab the important stuff we needed to evacuate because the scenario was that we lived near a volcano and the news said we had to evacuate if near it so my group didn’t really interperate that well and grabbed everything instead of only getting everything and then we went back to the mat which is where we were sitting and  our bag got checked and only one group actually did it properly and got important stuff but they forgot one thing which was the mask. then our group went to where the dinosaurs and other animals were and something I learnt there was that one of the biggest ammonites were found off the west coast of the north island and that scientists mistakened bones they found in the sand in a beach for a dinosaurs but it was actually the bones of the kea bird. then after that we went to this room and sat down and told the people around us facts we learned and then LS1 came in and then we moved our places to give them space to sit and then 1 by one LS2 stood up and introduced themselves and told LS1 a fact and when it was my turn I was nervous at first but then I fet confidence when I stood up and said it even tho my legs were still kinda Shakey but I still did it and that’s what matters! then when the last person went we all waited abit and then we all got up and went class by class out the museum and then we got in our bus and head back to school.

When we got back I got really sad that it was over but it was an AMAZING experience and I wish I could go again!

Body fossils and Trace fossils

For inquiry we are learning about dinosaurs and fossils and last week we were learning about body fossils and Trace fossils and were asked to create a DLO about the two of them so people can understand the difference between the two. we got into Pairs for this task so that was one of the things I really liked so we could collab together to finish this task.

What do Paleontologists do?(50 word statement)

This week in Inquiry LS2 have been learning about Fossils and Dinosaurs and we started off by learning what a Paleontologist is and what they do. We then got into groups of 2-4 and got a big piece of scrap paper and a vivid each and then our Teacher put a video and while we were watching it we would also e taking notes and writing them down on the scrap paper with our vivids and when we were done our Teacher asked two questions which were “What is a Paleontologist?” and “What do hey do?” and we were given a bit of time to think and write it down and then we were then given our task which was to write a 50 word statement that explained what they are and what they do. And something I found fun was the collaboration we used to write it and the focus we all put I to make sure it wasn’t 49 or 51 but 50 on the dot.

Song Maker(WLJ)

Today LS2 was shown the Winter Learning Journey, it is something we could do if we are doing nothing on the holidays and I chose the “Song Maker” activity and created this song which is from one of my favourite video games named “Undertale” and after ALOT of percision I finally made it and this is what I got this!
Something I found interesting was how you could experiment with different sounds, beats and speeds to create a masterpiece!
