For Reading we were learning about the Shearers strike and were asked to create a Google draw that includes our groups opinion, two perspectives and the outcome.
My group created this and we agreed with perspective A because we thought that it was unfair that the shearers wern’t getting paid enough ad they had a reason to go on strike.
What I found interesting about this task was learning about the whole story and finding out many things from it like what a strike is and what a shearer is.
Mood Board|Hone Tuwhare poem
Today for reading, we were given the task to create a moodboard and a Google vid the has a recording of us saying the poem “Rain” and the mood board was for a poem called “Child coming home in the rain from the store.” both of them made by a pretty famous poet called “Hone Tuwhare”
Some people in my group and I created this mood board that consists of many shades of grey, because we thought that the poem had a more greyish vibe like rain, the poem is about a child getting food for there family at home but as they were about to leave the store it started raining so they had to walk home in the rain, and that mother is waiting for them at home. Something I found fun with this task was deciding on what the colour scheme.
Me and 2 others created our Google vid together, we said a line each and we used Adobe express to create a photo that we thought described the poem. Something I found interesting about this task was finding the right prompts to create the right photo.
Malala Yousafzai
For reading LS2 has been learning about Malala Yousafzai who is a Pakistani education activist and when she only 16 when she gave her powerful speech to the UN(United Nations). She fought for education and equality rights for everyone but mostly girls, when she went on the bus to school she got shot by the Taliban in the left side of her face thinking it would silence her. But she only came back stronger and because that happened, that’s when she realized that girls and many other people have the problem of not being able to go to school, so she fought. She fought for everyone to have the luxury of going to school and learn many things. Her story is very important and she should be more well known. So my reading group and I created a poster that shows people one of her famous quotes, the quote we chose was “One child, one Teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” because we all thought it was a very powerful quote in our opinions.
RISE UP: The Story of the Dawn Raids and the Polynesian Panthers
We read the text RISE UP: The Story of the Dawn Raids and the Polynesian Panthers and asked to create a DLO that explores and discusses both perspectives of this historical event in our groups.
Our DLO shows both perspectives of what people think about the Dawn raids and my groups opinion.
We agreed with Perspective A, because we thought it was unfair.
Something I found interesting was discussing with my group and finding out we all agree with the same opinion.
LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to the provocation
Once a panther
We read the text Once a Panther and asked to create a comic strip that depicts a scene related to the ideas of prejudice, justice, or taking a stand in today’s world using thought bubbles or dialogue that explains the image. Our comic strip showed a more wise and older Polynesian panther talking to a more new and younger one is nervous.
Something I found interesting about this challenge was thinking about a scenario that our entire group could agree on.
LI: To identify the key historical context and events related to the Polynesian Panthers and the Dawn Raids as depicted in the graphic novel.
‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology
We read the text ‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology and were given the provocation – Should the Government of today(2021) apologise for the dawn raids of yesterday (1970s)? to explore and discuss in our groups. After we discussed our opinions we found out that most of us thought that the government should have apologised then vs now.
To show our thinking we created a DLO that reflected both sides of this provocation and your opinion.
something I found interesting was finding out facts to build up on our opinions.
Title: ‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology

Words from the ANZACS
On friday Mrs Andersons group was taught how to use Google vids and after learning how to create and use it we were asked to create a podcast/vid of our ANZAC diary entries and recorded ourselfs reading it out as if we were the soldier. We also got to search for an image that relates to the ANZAC war for our background and also used text templates to write our title in.We then uploaded it to drive which makes the vd into one whole video that could be put onto our blogs.
I found this task really creative to do because we could learn about how to use Google vids and also learn about the ANZAC war and how hard it was for the soldiers to survive.
LI:To retell an event in history through the fictional eyes of someone who was there.
The Kuaka
Last week our Task was to create a DLO on the Kuaka and my DLO shows the different places the Kuaka Migrate to.something I found interesting was it can travel 11,000 to 13,000 kilometers under a week.
LI: To create an infographic that tells others about the migration of the kuaka
Dot to Dot Connections:The Kuaka
Last Week our task was to make dot to dot connections on words that connected to the Kuaka. i chose 6 words which were Climate Change, Migration, Navigation, DIet, Travel, Appearance and Habitat and i made connections with the words with facts about the Kuaka.
LI:To draw the lines between the words to show how the connections you have made.
Mapping the Migratory Flight of the Kuaka
Last Week our task was to create and DLO showing the migration route of the Kuaka and to explain why they go to all of the different places. this is what I created and something I found interesting is that the reason they migrate is just like any other animal or person their reason is to find better food and a breeding place.
LI:To use Google My Maps to to show the migratory flight path of the Kuaka.
