Today was the last day that my group for tech is doing Te Reo before go into another subject next week which is going to be Cooking. The people who werent finished with they’re Tukutuku/weaving were trying to finish it before we had to leave and those who were finished, began to make a poster that shows others what your design is called, what it represents and what the colours mean. My one represents the treaty of waitangi.
Red, White and Black: to show the maori flag
Light Brown:To show the paper the treaty was written and signed on.
Dark Brown:To show how the treaty was ripping or getting mistreated to show how the treaty wasnt being treated properly.
Also at around 10:20 we had what our Matua calls a “Mental Break” or “Brain Break” which is just where we all sing waiatas or learn some, personally I loved them even though I enjoyed the weaving.
I really liked today and learned so many new things during my time being there and I would definitely go back again.
Tech| Te reo
Today at tech, unfortunately our usual Te Reo teacher, Matua Adrien was away at a family reunion but fortunately we got a reliever and she got us to colour in different parts of a big drawing so we could put it all together and create a big drawing all together. at 10:00 the reliever left and swapped with another teacher who gave us free time on our Chromebooks and paper and pencils to draw aswel. Then we packed up and lined up to go back to school.
Tech| Te Reo

For Tech this term Year 8 group B have been learning how to weave in our Te Reo class. We learned that when you weave you don’t just weave randomly, you need to learn what pattern and colours to use to be able to tell a story with it. If not a story than make sure it means something like if you use the colours of the Maori flag it can be seen as the Maori history. Something I like about weaving is that you tell stories with the finished product and pass it down to others so they can now as well.
