Maths DLO

This week for maths Group two has been learning how to subtract fractions a created a DLO that explains to others. Subtracting fractions looks hard but once you get of it you’ll realize its kinda easy or that its similar to normal subtracting. When you subtract decimals and you are not sure what to do you can look at this DLO we made to help you understand it more.

Mary Anning DLO

Before we took part in our own dinosaur dig LS2 were challenged to capture the story behind Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter and paleontologist during the early 19th century.
Mary anning is one of the most interesting paleontologists I have ever reasearched.
Something I learnt was when Mary anning was only 5 months old, she was with her babysitter at a event until a huge thunderstorm broke out and the babysitter took Mary to shelter under a tree along with another kid but thunder struck the three of them killing the child and the babysitter except for Mary who survived which was a miracle.

Dinosaur egg

Our challenge was to become a palaeontologist who uncovered a rare dinosaur egg fossil. We used Adobe Express to reimage what a real find might look like. After a quick research challenge about habitat we used that information to create our image. We used Adobe express to make the image as if it was back when the dinosaurs once walked.
My partner and I found the skeleton of a Triceratops.
Did you know that the triceratops is one of the most common fossils found?
This task fun because me and my partner found a lot of facts about the triceratops which made it interesting.
LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils.

‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology

We read the text ‘Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology and were given the provocation – Should the Government of today(2021) apologise for the dawn raids of yesterday (1970s)? to explore and discuss in our groups. After we discussed our opinions we found out that most of us thought that the government should have apologised then vs now.
To show our thinking we created a DLO that reflected both sides of this provocation and your opinion.
something I found interesting was finding out facts to build up on our opinions.

LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to the provocation
